The workers stopped to catch their breath like prisoners granted a pardon, greedily inhaling that moment of silence. But Doggy Wang, as though guided by some unseen hand, drifted to the raw materials section. Bags of powder were piled there: gelatin, citric acid, flavorings, pigments. He crouched down and thrust his hand into a bag of white powder, as one might thrust a hand into snow. The powder was cool and fine, rustling through his fingers in a soft stream.
